Broker Frequently Asked Questions
Introduction
As we work with you to provide the coverage needed for institutions you work with, here are a few common questions that may help you get to know United Educators (UE).
Our Coverage
- An extensive risk management library and personalized advisory services are available to UE members. From online training to claims studies and webinars, the resources report on topics such as sexual assault prevention and response, concussion management, and study abroad.
- Risk Management Premium Credit (RMPC) program enables eligible members carrying a GL or educators legal liability (ELL) policy to earn a credit toward their premium by participating in specific risk management activities.
- ProResponse® is a supplemental program available to qualifying K-12 and higher education members with UE’s GL and ELL coverage and to public school districts with UE’s school board legal liability (SBL) and public school liability (PSL) coverage. Coverage must have been in place both on the date the underlying event occurred and the date that the triggering circumstances arose, depending on the benefit sought.
- Seamless coverage is an added endorsement which provides coordinated coverage for hybrid claims — incidents that result in allegations that trigger claims in both a GL and ELL policy.
To apply, email the completed UE application, along with six-year carrier loss runs, and the institution’s most recent audited financials to your territory manager.
Please visit our Liability Landscape page for the most recent policy updates and to learn more about the conditions leading to these revisions.
Questions? Please contact your UE underwriter. For general inquiries, email uesupport@ue.org.

Quick links:
UE is one of the first and largest risk retention groups (RRGs) formed since Congress enacted the Liability Risk Retention Act (LRRA) in 1986. RRGs are a form of a captive insurance company, formed to meet the unique risk transfer need of a specific type of organization or business. Flexibility, responsiveness, and focus on the members of the group are the hallmarks of a well-run RRG.
UE’s form of ownership is a non-assessable reciprocal. With reciprocals, or exchanges, member insureds exchange their risks with each other. Each new UE member executes a subscriber’s agreement and power of attorney, appointing UE as its attorney-in-fact so it can exchange insurance risks with all other UE members.
