Luke Figora Joins United Educators Board
Bethesda, Md., July 22, 2024 — Luke Figora joined United Educators’ (UE’s) Subscribers’ Advisory Board (Board of Directors) as of July 8, fulfilling the remainder of the term of outgoing board member Courtney Davis Curtis.
Luke is Northwestern University’s Vice President for Operations and Chief Operating Officer, leading a team of over 900 people. He oversees Facilities; Safety and Security; Information Technology; Risk Management, Internal Audit, and Compliance; Neighborhood and Community Relations; and the Project Management Office. He staffs the Educational Properties and Audit, Risk, and Compliance committees of Northwestern’s Board of Trustees.
Before joining Northwestern, he was Executive Director for Risk Management at the University of Chicago and held several positions in the commercial insurance industry.

His honors as an education and insurance leader include being named 2019 Risk Manager of the Year by RIMS and listed in Business Insurance’s 40 under 40 in 2018. He was President of the University Risk Management and Insurance Association (URMIA) from 2018-19 and received the organization’s Distinguished Risk Manager award in 2022.
Luke has a master’s in Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a bachelor’s in Economics from Lake Forest College.
He is an elected member of the District 36 school board in Winnetka, Ill.
